During professional teeth cleaning, we remove plaque, a sticky film containing bacteria, food debris, and saliva. Our registered hygienists then remove tartar, which forms when plaque hardens on the teeth, using special tools, as regular brushing alone cannot eliminate it.

Every professional teeth cleaning will include:
- Plaque Removal: Bacteria can form on teeth, forming a film that irritates gums. Your hygienist will use special tools during cleaning to remove plaque, preventing gingivitis or periodontitis.
- Tartar Removal: Untreated plaque can harden into tartar, which is difficult to remove and can form below the gum line. Special instruments are needed to remove it.
- Teeth Polishing: This process removes plaque or stains that regular brushing or scaling cannot remove.

After having cancer in my jaw, I was very scared to see a dentist. Dr. Platt was incredible and made me feel like we were in this together. He heard me (and my fears) and gave me so many options that together, we could find a plan I was comfortable with. He is the first dentist I’ve gone to in 46 years, and it didn’t hurt, and for me, that’s huge! He’s allowed me to not be ashamed of my smile.
Dr. Ryan Platt was absolutely amazing!
