Research has shown that several factors contribute to an individual’s risk of developing oral cancer, including smoking, genetic predisposition, gender, ethnicity, and alcohol consumption. Current statistics indicate that 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer every year, and almost 10,000 cases are fatal.
To ensure early detection and timely treatment, we automatically schedule oral cancer screenings for every new patient and annually for established patients at their cleaning appointments or exams. This means that at each six-month cleaning, patients receive either X-rays or an oral cancer screening, helping to safeguard their oral health.

After having cancer in my jaw, I was very scared to see a dentist. Dr. Platt was incredible and made me feel like we were in this together. He heard me (and my fears) and gave me so many options that together, we could find a plan I was comfortable with. He is the first dentist I’ve gone to in 46 years, and it didn’t hurt, and for me, that’s huge! He’s allowed me to not be ashamed of my smile.
